Since 01.01.2010, the exhaust emission test has been integrated into the main inspection. The legislator requires regular vehicle checks to ensure safety on Germany's roads. Every vehicle owner must therefore present his or her car for the main inspection (HU) at regular, legally defined intervals. Depending on the type of vehicle, it is due every 12 to 24 months and is usually carried out together with the exhaust emission test (AU).
